"The Rings of Akhaten" managed an overnight viewing figure of 5.5million - which is again third highest for the day. Obviously, this is lower than "The Bells of Saint John" but I think this is the price to be paid for a nice, sunny evening transmission. The consolidated figures will be released next week and should show a substantial increase.
Interestingly, the second episode of Series 7 Part One - "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" also gained an overnight viewing figure of 5.5million (and ended up with 7.57million consolidated).
